Get into your dream and drive towards reality.

empty road

Have you ever wanted to take a risk? One which is daring, frightful and totally worth it when acted upon? I believe that it is within our human nature to take risks. Even though we might be completely unaware of some of them.

Before we cross the street our brain does a little analysis. First we focus on the point on where we can begin to cross the street. That’s point A. To every point A there must be a point B and that’s the other side of the street. Let’s call it our desired destination. Our minds are only focused on those two points and we are completely oblivious to all of the things which could occur in between. That’s one risk which we are totally unaware of due to the fact that our determination and focus is much greater than our fear of failure. (In other words not crossing the street would result in taking the long way home.)

Another risk which we are totally unaware of is driving. Similar to crossing the street our minds are only focused on the destination and the benefits of reaching that destination. We don’t get into a car and do a million safety checks before we drive off. We simply get in and go, and that’s what we have to do when it comes to our dreams.

Don’t let those red lights stop you from reaching your goal. Your dream. Sure there might be a few bumps in the road, but when you reach your desired destination all of those bumps won’t matter any more. You’ve been taking risks all along and this one isn’t so different.

  1. Great post, Jacob. Solid analogy, I love it. I think it’s so important to get over that initial fear and just go, because that’s the only way to get there. Like Les Brown says, “leap, and grow your wings on the way down.” Good stuff!
